I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Christmas!
We have two new friends that I would like to welcome! Aaliyah and Annabelle have joined our group of friends and we are so excited about having them with us!
*Parents, please remember we are closed Monday, January 2nd, as we ring in 2012!

Week 1 January 3rd- January 6th
Bible verse: A Savior has been born. (Luke 2:11) Bible story: God Protects Jesus Speech and language: We're going to know and practice saying our first and last names, as well as the names of our friends, and even my name...it can be a tough one for this age! We will also talk about our experiences the past few weeks. How fun and exciting it has been! Early literacy: We will begin learning the letter 'F' and reviewing our other letters. We will also read the story "Let It Snow" by Maryann Cocca-Leffler. Math: We will practice counting to 20! We will learn to recognize the number 6. Science: It's winter! What kinds of things do we notice about winter? What do we wear during winter? Social studies: We will talk about our table manners! Creative arts: We'll create snowflakes! Physical development: Let's put on our coats!
Week 2 January 9th- January 13th
Bible verse: A friend always loves you. (Proverbs 17:17) Bible story: The Man Who Could Not Walk Speech and language: We're going to talk about our friends! Who are our friends? What does it mean to be a friend? Early literacy: We will continue with the letter 'F' and review our previous letters. We will also read the story "Lost and Found" by Oliver Jeffers. It's a cute story about a boy and a penguin and goes along great with our friendship theme! Math: We will continue to practice counting to 20 and recognizing the numbers 1-6. Science: We will go on a winter walk! Social studies: We will talk about our friends and how we treat one another. Creative arts: A winter collage! Physical development: Winter walk!
Week 3 January 16th- January 20th
Bible story: Jesus Makes People Well Speech and language: We will play a game of following directions! Early literacy: We will continue with the letter 'F' and play a recognition game with all of our letters so far! We'll read "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats. Math: We will play a counting game! We'll learn to recognize the number 7. Science: Hmmmm..... What happens to water when it gets really cold? Social studies: We will talk about the right way to play together in a group! Creative arts: We'll "paint" using colored ice cubes! Physical development: Finger play songs!
Week 4 January 23rd- January 27th
Bible story: Jesus and the Lonely Woman Speech and language: We will play a describing game! We will describe objects in our classroom using color, size, and texture. Early literacy: We will play recognition games using all of the letters so far! A, E, I, O, U, B, C, D, F. We'll read "The Mitten" by Jan Brett that has beautiful pictures to look at! Math: We will count using candy! (Our favorite!) And practice numbers 1-7. Science: We will learn about hot and cold! What's the difference? Social studies: We'll practice doing daily things by ourselves! Creative arts: We'll create a winter wonderland! Physical development: Buttons and zippers!
Week 5 January 30th- February 3rd
Bible verse: He cares for you. (1Peter 5:7) Bible story: We Are Important To Jesus! Speech and language: We're going to practice reciting some simple nursery rhymes! Early literacy: We will begin learning the letter 'G'. Let's read "Time To Sleep" by Denise Fleming. We'll learn a little about what animals do during the cold winter. Math: We will begin to learn the concept of the number 8. Science: We will look at pictures of real cold weather animals! What do we notice about these animals? Social studies: We'll practice washing our hands correctly...without playing in the sink. It could happen! Creative arts: We'll create a winter animal! Physical development: Let's play catch!
Children ages 2 – 5 will review curriculum that includes, numbers, letters, phonics, printing, literature, poetry, music, and the arts.
