Many of CCA’s activities are based around Christ. Every day we give our praises to the Lord through discussion, Bible stories, memory verses, songs of worship, and prayer. It is my desire to teach our children to love and trust in the Lord in all that we do and to share His word with others.

When looking into a preschool classroom, you are often overwhelmed by noise, busy bodies around the room, and toys here and there and everywhere! What might appear as mass chaos to most people, those of us in Early Childhood education see little minds working everywhere we look. Through research, it has been discovered that young children learn best through hands-on experiences where they can use all of their senses along with their growing social and emotional skills. For this reason, our classroom has been divided into several different learning stations to help promote an early love of learning. These learning stations allow for a small group of children to play within the station at one time. This allows the children to build their vocabulary, social skills, self esteem, and creativity by working with each other. This time also allows the teacher to focus on small groups of children and strengthen their teacher/student relationship as well as assess each child’s individual needs.

In the Creative Arts Station, your child will be able to creatively express themselves by using a variety of materials. They may paint, color with markers and crayons, use stencils, play in sand or water, play an instrument, play with play-dough, make a collage, cut, etc. This station helps your child build their fine motor skills as well as their imaginations.

In Home-living, your child can be transported all over the world (and sometimes out of this world) just by pretending. There are items to dress up like various community helpers, fantasy characters, animals, etc. They may choose to play house and cook a meal for their family, or become a restaurant where they run out of spaghetti. The sky is the limit to their creativity in this station. Here they are learning important social skills like how to share, gender roles, other cultures, and much more.

In the Construction Zone, your child will become a master builder. They may construct roads, towns, farms, and zoos. They may use toy tools to help them build, read about various types of cars, or graph out their plans for their build. Here your child is learning to express themselves creatively, but also work as a team to complete a project.

In the Audio/Visual area, your child will have the opportunity to play various academically enriching games. Some games may help them learn the sounds of the alphabet and match them to pictures, some may help them learn colors and develop better fine motor skills and hand eye coordination as they click, and others may test their memory skills. Your child may also choose to listen to a book on tape or CD while inside this station. This helps them with print awareness, book handling skills, and early literacy.

In the Literacy Station, your child will have the opportunity to cozy up with a good book inside of a fun tree-house tent. They may also choose to play games that help them with Literacy skills like Alphabet bingo, letter matching, dry-erase boards to write out their name, or retell a story using puppets. Using these games, children become more familiar with the alphabet and the words around them.

In the Science and Math Station, your child will be learning to challenge their intellectual side. They may measure toy animals using traditional methods like a scale or a ruler. They may sort objects by color or shape. They may explore a cell using a microscope, and see an autumn leaf up close with a magnifying glass. Through picture cards and books in this station, your child will explore the Earth and everything God made in it. This station is completely hands on, and it allows them to manipulate the world around them to help them better understand their surroundings.
